SC Transportes uses intermodality rationally and efficiently, offering the interconnected river navigation service, modes of transport that emit less toxic gases from the burning of fuel in the atmosphere. By using highways only for short distances, it is possible to optimize logistics processes not only for the environment, but also for businesses, which can expand the reach of their services without extra costs or extra investment.
Each SC Transportes river train can carry up to 4 1,600 Ton ferries, with just one pusher using 2 engines up to 800 HP, carrying a total of 6,400 tonnes in one trip. Taking into account that a trailer carries 27 tons, this means that on every SC Transportes river trip we will have the equivalent of 237 trailer engines shut down, all the way.
The Brazilian market is still very dependent on road mode. Excluding deforestation, the transport sector is the main emitter of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere. By opting for the rational use of the intermodal network, making greater use of the maritime and fluvial modal, it is possible to considerably reduce the damage to the environment, implementing a policy of environmental efficiency.
Studies show that Brazil can increase by 20% the volume of transport without emitting an additional gram of CO2. One of the most effective initiatives to reduce carbon footprint is to reduce dependence on fossil fuels – those that, when burned, emit CO2. SC Transportes does its part in contributing this achievement to the country.
Sustainability is in the mission of SC Transportes . Just as important as efficient transport is to have good environmental practices through projects for a more sustainable world where every attitude can make a difference.
